- Determine the topic for the lesson.
- List the standard.
- Unpack the standard.
- Write an essential question.
- Identify a formative (pre-) assessment procedure.
- Administer the pre-assessment to students.
- Graph the results of the pre-assessment data.
- Create a rubric.
- Have students set personal learning goals.
- Add ways to re-engage students.
- Add student choice.
- Add real-world relevancy.
- Add opportunities to interact and engage with students.
- Identify rules and procedures for active learning.
- Identify ways to provide specific and timely feedback.
- Identify ways students can check their progress.
- Add opportunities for students to process every 15 minutes.
- Use the Six Essential C's to assess everything in the lesson or unit to ensure that it has a purpose.
- Add amount of time devoted to every activity in the lesson or unit.
